Don't Hover!

The higher education system has a problem. People, be they students, tutors, or teachers, have this strange desire to hover. And by hover, I'm not talking hover in the classroom, or in the hall. No, these people like to hover over my right shoulder. I'm not kidding, it's right side ninety percent of the time. I don't know what it is that causes these people to be so attracted to stand over my right shoulder, but they do. It's like I've got something tattooed on my back, that they can all see that reads,

"Please, hover over my right shoulder. I love that, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, and super smart. So please, hover away. Oh! And don't mention this note to me, I'm kind self conscious about it!"

Is that it? Do I have some mysterious sign that no one tells me about???

The Bottom Drawer

The bottom drawer at my desk haunts me. I say my desk, because while my bum is in the chair it mine, otherwise it's just the reference desk, but for a few brief hours, it's mine. It is a normal desk, metal, industrial, solid. Nothing scary, or ominous about it. But it haunts me. At least the bottom drawer does. See, I share my desk with others, a privilege which they pay dearly for. How do they pay this tribute, you ask? Candy. Sweet, sweet candy. They keep this tribute in the bottom drawer. I must simply open the drawer and I smell the sweet smell of chocolate, it's really almost overwhelming. How does this haunt me? Because the tribute is never ending, it's like a black-hole of yummy goodness. If I didn't stop myself, then I would eat it all. Every last bit. So here I sit, hearing it call softly to me, "Eat me! Eat me!" The only way to silence this quiet, begging to be eaten, is to eat it. But here I sit, ignoring the voices as they call to me, haunting me.

Please ignore the world below.

So, I've not even thought to touch this in ages. Had forgotten about it really. But lately I've gotten into reading other peoples blogs more, and remember that once upon a time I had a blog! Upon hunting it down and rereading what I've written before, the only thing that I have to say is, "What on earth was wrong with me, why would anyone want to know about that???" Facebook is for letting the world know updated life stati, not blogs. People want to be entertained by the internet, not read about my days, or tests. The people who get to know that stuff, whether they really want to or not, are my friends on facebook and beyond. So here's to being more entertaining! And now I have that song in my head....

Ah Sweet West Tennessee!

The social event of the season has come and gone. That's right, The Chester County BBQ Fest! I first heard of it whist driving home from IHOP in early July. My first thought was "OOO!!! BBQ! The second thought went, " OOO! Elizabeth!" So after comfirming with Will that this was a must see event (his word were, "It's kinda the social event of the season for Henderson and the surrounding areas"), I promptly invited my lovely sister to the Fest! Well. She came out and we had a big time. Though we're were planning to listen to much more country music than we did... oh well! The fest was.... Meh. Good time, but that was mostly because it was fun to have Elizabeth around. The Fest consisted of a few food stands, one small block of tents holding wears of the natives, and a stage where various musical acts and such was held. But we made the best of it and still managed to have a good time! Thank you Elizabeth for coming out!

In other news, I got a B in my lab test! Yey! I'm really hoping to continue the good grades, just to mess with the 6 or 7 slackers in my class who expect everything to be handed to them. I've been good so far and not open my mouth to say something that would lead to a fight, but of it's getting hard. The worst part is, they all want to get into the nursing program. I fear for all our lives here in West Tennessee if they succeed....

I am a pizza making machine!

Yes that's right, I'm all about the pizzas! It's actually the best spot at work I've been in. It's relatively easy and the kids really like it. Though they just open a Pizza Hut down stairs but we were still pretty busy. I made all kinds of fun pizzas! No real random moments today though... I did burn myself though, that kinda hurts still... But On Teb On!
Anywho! Off to pick up Halo Reach at the midnight release. It's kinda sad I got rather dressed up for it, but I don't get to go out much now with the split shift so I'll take what I can get!

I Heart my new job.

So I've been working for about a week now. Well almost one working week, four days... Anywho! I really like it. The kids (bah kids I'm hardly older then them, if I am, and yet I still call them kids, I sound like a little old lunch lady, hummm...) are fun. Quite a few have actually gone out of their way to ask me my name and how I'm doing and such. It's nice! And They appreciate me! Well I am giving them food, that might have something to do with it.... Plus with this weird spilt shift that i'm working I have time to study between shifts and actually did that today! Yey Me! I also trained someone today. Did I mention that this was my forth day? Yey me?

I think my favorite scene from today would have to be watching this older couple try to interact with this kid (there I go again!).  Well by interact i mean try to start up a conversation and then cut the really ridiculously long line. So this older( by that i mean old) couple walks up with that Just checking kind of walk to see what we were serving. There were prolly close to thirty people in line at the time. Said couple starts talking to the two students waiting at the front of the line. Well the students were nice enough and responded. Then the old man steps right in front of the first student and kinda drags his lady in by him and starts asking for a little of this and a little of that. I being slightly in shock just stare at him. Then look to the annoyed student and give the "are you ok with this look?" because I don't have enough power to tell rotten old man off and was unsure what to do. The students shook his head and shrugged. "Oh well". Nice kid. I gave him double of everything. Suffice to say, I've now become wary of old people in my line..... I do intend to watch for this old man and not feeed him next time, and continue to give the kid extra food.
